Session: Managing Investment Risk in the Climate Change Sector
Matthew Most is the Managing Director of Environmental Policy for Edison Mission Energy. Most is responsible for federal and state government relations focused on climate change issues in the states where Edison Mission Group and its subsidiaries operate. In this role Mr. Most has served on both the Illinois Climate Change Advisory Group and Midwest Governors Association's Greenhouse Gas Reduction Advisory Group, to which Mr. Most was a Governor’s appointee. Additionally, Most is responsible for new business opportunities designed to reduce the carbon intensity of EME earnings, including projects focused on renewable energy and demand side management.
Previously Mr. Most was Director, Emissions & Fuels at Edison Mission Marketing & Trading (EMMT), responsible for managing the company's environmental and fuels commodity risk. EMMT manages the commodity exposure of Edison Mission Energy, primarily those associated with its 7,500 MW coal-fired merchant power fleet and its 1,000 MW wind fleet. Prior to its acquisition by Edison Mission Energy, Mr. Most joined Citizens Power in the spring of 1999 to develop an emissions allowance trading desk.
Mr. Most served as Chairperson of the Environmental Markets Association (EMA) for 3 years and a director for 5 years. Mr. Most holds a Bachelors degree from Clark University in Environmental Science and an MBA from Babson College.
